Join us as we explore the topics of social connectedness within the context of the Silicon Valley workplace.
How does what we do shape who we are and how we connect? At every level, from retirees missing their work friendships, to mid-career workers nervous in the face of layoffs, to recent grads unable to get an entry-level job in their field, we are all feeling the job stress and a loss of human connection. This series will explore what the Gospel says about identity, belonging, and our responsibility to each other.
Two resources will inform the sermons:
1) From our own Reformed theological tradition of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) — Calvin on vocation and the knowledge of God; covenant theology on our binding to one another; and our Book of Confessions, especially the Westminster Standards, the 1934 Theological Declaration of Barmen, and the 1991 Brief Statement of Faith.
2) The Magnifica Humanitas (“Magnificent Humanity”), Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, On Safeguarding the Human Person in the Time of Artificial Intelligence, signed 15 May 2026 on the 135th anniversary of Leo XIII’s Rerum Novarum.
