Dear Sunnyvale Presbyterian Community,
On behalf of our whole delegation, I want to say thank you for the encouragement and prayer that made this trip possible. Your support carried us through sixteen incredible days of travel, worship, learning, and conversation. We learned about the tragic histories and present-day realities of US military involvement in Korea. We connected with new partner congregations who are seeking healing for a divided society and building a more welcoming church.
We met multiple activists who are protecting land for local communities, demanding justice for exploited women, and sharing messages of hope from children around the world. In between all this, we marveled at the natural beauty of Korea, enjoyed lots of food, and took in surprising new cultural events. But the best thing about this trip was the opportunity to have deep and meaningful conversations, to receive new dreams, and to grow in hope — that by God’s Spirit, we might find new ways to live at peace in the world.
We want to share these dreams and new hope with all of you! Join us July 26 during worship at 10 am or 5 pm (MWC) and an Adult Learning conversation at 11:30 am in Fellowship Hall. Participants from our trip will share reflections and songs, tell you about our ministry partners in Korea, and invite you into conversations about our place — as Americans and as Christians — in the wider world. We hope you’ll join us!
